BioSecurity Training Courses

CBAFF's training partner Independent Verification Services (IVS) is an approved operator training provider and can facilitate your initial or refresher training at their venues throughout New Zealand.

The workshops are provided by experienced, passionate tutors who have a working biosecurity background and take place in a friendly, supportive environment where group participation and input is encouraged.

A basic understanding of written and spoken English is required but if you have any concerns about this, please contact us to discuss the available options. Refreshments are provided on courses.

Please find details of courses below and visit our Course Schedule to find a course location near you. For any further information, please contact us.

Accredited Person Training Certificates

MAF Biosecurity NZ requires you to have one or more Accredited Persons (APs) available to inspect and unpack imported sea containers.

In order to become an Accredited Person you, or your employee, must attend and pass a biosecurity awareness course. Certificates are valid for two years before refresher training is required.

The training can take place at any of the IVS venues nationwide or, for groups of six or more, at your site to suit your company needs.

The three-hour course consists of: a PowerPoint presentation supported by the tutor, led discussion, workbook activities and a short 10 question quiz at the conclusion of the session.

Prices

$155 +GST - Members (includes $10 MAF levies)

Transitional Facility Operator Training

The MAF Biosecurity NZ standard covering approved transitional facilities for general uncleared goods, requires all operators of transitional facilities to complete a Transitional Facility Operator (TFO) Workshop.

The operator is the person who maintains overall responsibility for the biosecurity aspects of your facility, is the official liaison person for MAF Biosecurity NZ, and may or may not also be an Accredited Person.

The training requirements for a TFO are separate to that for an Accredited Person, and neither certificate replaces the other.

The four-hour course consists of: a PowerPoint presentation supported by tutor, led discussion and workbook activities.

Prices

$ 185 +GST* (incl $10 MAF levies) – Members

*Prices will be $165 + GST in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington training venues
