Personal Identification Number (PIN) Accreditation Course
Lodging your own documentation requires a New Zealand Customs Unique User Identifier (UUI), commonly known as a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
To gain PIN accreditation you need to achieve at least an 80% pass mark in the examinations in these three courses:
1) Customs Broking & Law
2) Customs Tariff Interpretation
3) Customs Valuation & Origin Preference*
These courses are designed to equip people with the competencies to pass the examinations. They're not compulsory, but it is highly recommended that applicants attend unless they are fully confident in their ability to achieve the pass mark.
*prerequisite: Customs Broking and Law Course
Please note:
- The first exam is included in the course price. However, there is a re-sit fee of $100.00+GST.
- If two exams result in a fail then the required course must be taken.
- In rare situations Customs may be able to award a PIN without the applicant having completed the examinations. For more specific details of these exceptions, please contact New Zealand Customs directly on: 0800 4 CUSTOMS (0800 428 786).
