Thank you for your application form, the next step is your report which is due on the 21st of March 2014.
Report Criteria.
Describe a complex shipment process, import and export. Please select one key commodity/cargo to be imported into New Zealand from a destination of your choice. Please also select one key commodity/cargo to be exported from New Zealand to a destination of your choice. Please ensure your import and export destinations are realistic. Please describe the processes, interactions and variations that could occur for your chosen shipments. Candidates are expected to show initiative over the voyages of these cargoes.
Your dissertation will be judged on the following criteria:
- Complexity of issues related to the cargo matter (e.g., bulk cargo, time sensitive cargo, reefer goods, hazardous goods, but also including factors such as terms of sale etc.,)
- Complexity of issues relating to multimodal moves. Please do not use unimodal cargo in your dissertation
- Difficulties overcome relating to cross-border issues, such as customs formalities, Bond issues etc.,
- Complexity of Regulatory issues faced during the voyage – including, but, not limited to security provision, pollution and environmental issues
- Risk management/insurance hurdles overcome, for example, pilferage of cargo, declaration of General Average, Leakage/spillage of cargo
- Structure (including the sources of your information)
- Approach to the problems faced and Methodology used to overcome the various issues
- Conclusion
- General Presentation (including for example a recognised referencing system).
Extra marks will be awarded for the complexity of the problems overcome during these voyages. The dissertation and conclusion shall be approximately 2000 words in length.
