The Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Federation (CBAFF) is urging shipping lines to waive detention fees on containers delayed following a tragic accident at Ports of Auckland.

Glenn Coldham, National Customs Manager at DHL Global Forwarding, has been elected to his third term as president of the Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Federation of New Zealand (CBAFF). Vice presidents are Steve Pugh, Customs Manager at GVI Logistics in Christchurch, and Willie van Heusden, Country Manager for Damco.

Phillip Burgess left school in Christchurch 12 years ago with no idea of what he wanted to do. Today he heads the South Island operation for a global freight forwarder and has just been named the sector’s most promising young professional. Phillip, South Island Manager for Burnard International, based in Christchurch, is the 2017 winner of the Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Federation of New Zealand’s (CBAFF) Young Achiever Award.

From mid-September 2016- April 2017, MPI will increase targeted interventions for Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs on FCL containers from designated Ports in the USA and Italy.

CBAFF has been working with NZ Customs to gain clarification for members about the requirements for goods of Chinese origin that have only transhipped through Hong Kong on their way to NZ. Please see below response from NZ Customs regarding their view on the matter.
